Buy BPA free cans of coconut milk, and use filtered and unfluoridated water, if possible, for added health benefits.  I like to use Native Forest Organic Classic canned Coconut Milk.  I link another kind for ease of buying singly on Amazon, but I don't think that can is BPA-free.

If you’ve ever picked up a box of coconut milk from the store and read the ingredients, it probably looked something like this:  water, coconut cream, cane sugar, tricalcium phosphate, carrageenan, guar gum, coconut water concentrate, natural flavors…

The list of ingredients in most store bought coconut milks is absolutely ridiculous, especially since you only need 2 ingredients to make it – COCONUT AND WATER!  No added sugars, fillers, flavors or preservatives.
